Connect Sejda to Shift so you can merge all your web apps into your browser
Download ShiftWhat is Sejda?
Sejda is a PDF editing and document-processing platform available through a web app and desktop applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It provides tools for editing existing PDF text and images, filling forms, adding signatures, merging and splitting documents, compressing files, applying OCR to scanned pages, and converting between PDF and formats such as Word, Excel, and images.
Sejda supports both individual document tasks and batch processing, with its web service operating under usage and file-size limits that depend on the current plan. The desktop application processes documents locally and can be used when files should remain on the device. Sejda also provides paid web and desktop options and deployment features for organizations, including managed installation options. Because free-plan limits and pricing can change, check Sejda's current pricing and usage-limits documentation before working with large files or recurring batch workflows.
How Sejda works in Shift
Add Sejda from the Shift App Directory to give the web editor a dedicated app tile in the Shift sidebar. You can then place Sejda in a Space with Gmail, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or other apps used to receive, store, and send documents.
For example, create a Space for contract processing with Sejda, Gmail, and your cloud storage service. Open the document in Sejda, use Edit PDF to change text or images, apply OCR if the document contains scanned pages, and use Merge PDF if supporting documents need to be combined. After processing the PDF, download or save the resulting file and return to the related email or storage app from the same Space.
For recurring document workflows, side-by-side views can keep Sejda next to an email, spreadsheet, or source document while you edit the PDF. Shift's multi-account functionality can keep separate Sejda or cloud-storage accounts signed in when you work across personal, client, or business environments. Focus Mode can limit the visible workspace to the Space being used for the document task.
Sejda Desktop operates separately from the web app in Shift. When you need local processing or want to avoid uploading a particular document to Sejda's web service, open the file with Sejda Desktop instead. The browser-based Sejda app can remain in Shift for other PDF tasks and account management.

FAQ
1. How much does Sejda cost?
Sejda provides limited free access as well as paid options for more frequent use. Depending on the current offering, paid access may include short-term passes, web subscriptions, desktop licenses, and options for organizations. Check Sejda's current pricing page for exact rates and licensing terms.
2. What are Sejda's free usage limits?
Sejda's free web service applies limits based on factors such as document size, page count, number of tasks, and the specific PDF tool being used. For example, the limits for editing a PDF may differ from those for merging, OCR, or compression. Because these thresholds can change, check Sejda's current limits for the specific tool before processing a large document or batch of files.
3. Is Sejda trustworthy for sensitive documents?
Sejda offers both web-based and local desktop processing. Documents processed through the web service must be uploaded for processing, while Sejda Desktop can perform supported operations locally on the computer. For confidential or regulated documents, review Sejda's current privacy, security, and file-retention documentation and use the desktop application when local processing is required.
4. Can I edit a PDF online for free with Sejda?
Yes. Sejda's web editor allows PDFs to be edited without a paid subscription as long as the document and usage remain within the applicable free limits. Larger documents, repeated tasks, or features outside those limits may require paid access.
5. What is the difference between Sejda Web and Sejda Desktop?
Sejda Web runs in the browser and processes files through Sejda's online service. Sejda Desktop is installed on Windows, macOS, or Linux and processes supported PDF tasks locally. The desktop version is therefore more appropriate when offline access or local file processing is required.
6. Can I use Sejda with multiple accounts in Shift?
Yes. Shift's multi-account functionality can keep separate Sejda accounts signed in simultaneously. You can organize them into different Spaces with the corresponding email, cloud-storage, and productivity apps used for each workflow.
